The Beginning

When the day had begun for this teen, it was a wonderful morning. Cloudless skies and sun blazing was something that sure did bring out the good in many. Even many of the Pokémon seemed to be pleased, going about with their own bussiness, making it seem like time should be taken slowly. It couldn't be helped, and anyone wouldn't mind wanting to sit about for a little while and watch everything go by. As long as the town nearby was in sight, thats what this one teen did.

Nicholas knew it was about time for him to get up and go, seeing that it would be nice to get his own Pokémon. It was nice, and he'd already spent much time here in the field, but it was necessary for him to do so. Maybe later, he could do this again. It would be even nicer to see if he could even have company with him at the time too, but at the moment, he'd better hurry up. He couldn't help but smile, standing up in the process, and headed towards Hajime Town. It was something that was going to be exciting and interesting, especially for getting something that he's been waiting for for a long time. He couldn't help himself for being like this, and others would probably feel the same way.

It didn't take too long before Nicholas had finally gotten to the town, noticing that it did seem to be a bit more crowded than what he expected. Many people were walking about, making it seem like it would take forever for someone to be able to get through. Nicholas wasn't even sure if he was to be able to make it through to the lab if it was this bad. That didn't stop him though, for he then started his way through, pushing his way into the town as best he could to get where he wanted. It wasn't the best, seeing that it was a slow progression for what he wanted. Nicholas didn't think he even made it all that far, up untill he came about a dozen or so feet from the lab.

His smile grew, making it seem more exhilerating to know that he was this close. The next thing that he knew, he was running to the door, slowing as he got closer, and stopped. It sure would be nice if he didn't have to barge in without being rude. Nicholas wasn't one to be rude, and he figured that it wouldn't be that bad for him to do so. At this, he then reached out, placing his hand on the door, and soon opened it. The gust of wind came that usually accompanied an opening of the door, making it easier for him to look inside the lab as he went. Which wasn't to be unexpected to notice too badly of that of what was inside the lab.

Looking around, it seemed a lot simpler in here than what Nicholas was expecting. Maybe it was the Waiting Room, but it didn't seem like it. Whatever rook it was, sure seemed like a good place to wait for what was to come. Nicholas wasn't sure what to think, but that didn't seem to stop him quite yet for something that seemed like a possibility for him to get a chance at what would be a wonderful trip. Taking a few steps in, Nicholas looked about, not really looking for anything in particular that could help him. He wasn't even sure if the professor was around, yet it wasn't going to be too bad if he just looked about. It would figure that something would come out of it if he didn't try something at least.

"Hello! Is anyone around?"

The last few weeks had been going by pretty quickly. Professor Kinkaze just did what any other Professor would do on a regular old day, inspect Pokemon. He recently had been intrigued by a shiny Bulbasaur's bulb. It didn't emit the same type of fume as regular Bulbasaur. A regular Bulbasaur's bulb, when happy, would emit fumes that would attract other Bulbasaurs. But, shiny Bulbasaur seemed to repel other Bulbasaur and attracted many other Pokemon, like a sweet scent of sorts.
He had been inspecting the Pokemon for a few days now, taking up his time while the long months of summer came and strolled away. Not many trainers embarked on their journey in the heat of summer when the temperature could top at 100 degrees each day.
Today's weather was quite beautiful, a nice breeze swaying the long grass in the fields and the quaking aspens in the little forests around the route and laboratory. Nilly and Lake had been outside most of the day, snuggling how they usually did. Those two were quizzically and irrevocably in love, never to be separated. They would just float along in the breeze together, flying away farther and farther from the lab.
Some days this bothered the Professor, some days it didn't when his mind was wandering and was busy with work as usual. Today was the occasion that he did mind them flying off in the wind.
He pulled a Poke Ball out of his pocket and returned the shiny Bulbasaur to it's ball, before giving it a nice kiss on the forehead. He wandered out of the lab, his mind wandering. He knocked into the doorframe, bringing him back to reality in an instant.
He could see the two love-birds in the distance, just floating mid-air in a small drift of wind. He called over to them, seeing if they could hear. They didn't seem to hear. Otherwise, they didn't care if they would come back.
The Professor started a small trot over to the two just floating there. He started to slow down, his breath coming in and out of him in rapid intervals. He put his hands on his waist and bent over for a second to regain his breath.
<"Oi.. I'm out of shape!"> he thought to himself.
He slowly reclined back into his normal upright position, and wrapped his arms around the ice cream cone and traveling cloud. He pulled them back to the lab, only a few hundred feet away.
The wind felt good on the Professor's warm face, from which sweat had started to seep. He wiped his face with the nice white cloth of his lab coat, leaving a few stains on it.
He continued back to the lab, noticing all the wildflowers that had started to grow in the fields that he passed over. He hadn't been out in awhile, if you couldn't tell.

He was now back in the laboratory, pulling the two Pokemon in behind him and sticking them in a room that had no windows or much airflow for that matter. Before he could have wished to sit down and take a drink, a person had appeared in his lab.
<"Hello there!"> he said in response to the boy's question. He slowly walked back over, his eyes still adjusting to the new brightness of the room. As he got closer, his eyes had started to adjust to the brightness and a person had taken form in front of him.
<"Hi there! My name is Professor Kinkaze! I'm the Professor around these parts!"> he greeted the boy. After a short pause of inspection upon the boy, he continued, <"I would assume you're here for a starter Pokemon? Have any in mind? Or need help deciding?">
It had been a long while since the often occurrence of someone just popping into the laboratory to receive their starter Pokemon. Now that he thought about it, no one ever needed anything other than starter Pokemon..

It didn't seem like Nicholas had to wait long, seeing that there was something in the back that caught his attention. He couldn't tell what it was about, but something did seem to be going on, though what, he wasn't sure. He stood there for a moment, waiting for whoever it was to come, smiling when the noise was coming his way. Nicholas figured that this could be the person, seeing that it was going to be a good chance for him to actually get a start. It wouldn't too bad for him, knowing that this was going to be one of those things that would be good for him to do.

When the figure came out, the older man did seem like the sort that Nicholas would have expected to see to work like this. He nodded once when asked about getting a starter pokemon, seeing that this was the case for him. The man in charge didn't seem all that bad, and Nicholas didn't think that it would be too worrying to think of anything else. What was going to happen was all up to what he would be seeing for his choices of pokemon too. It wasn't going to be all that different than most, but Nicholas couldn't help himself in wondering this to himself. It was going to be a time that he couldn't help but think of anything better, but be pleased about what was to happen.

When asked about what sort of pokemon he had in mind, that was one thing that he hadn't really thought of until then. It would have been good to think about it before hand, but one thing was for certain: he really didn't need an Eevee. He'd already found one, and that wasn't going to be too much of a problem. Maybe a Grass-type would be good, seeing that it would be a nice aspect to have on the team. It was a good idea, and he would never really think twice of having more good choices added to his growing companions. The idea was a good thing, and a smile soon tugged at the lowered lips from what he was thinking.

"I was thinking more along the lines of a Grass- Type. I'm not really picky, so anything is fine."

<"A grass Pokemon, you say? Hmm.."> he thought to himself as he scrolled through the choices he was so familiar with from all the other trainers that had come through. The few that came to mind were a Treecko that would seem to fit him well. Otherwise, a Snivy would do well also.
He slowly walked away from the new trainer and walked over to the neon computer screen in the corner. He tapped a few buttons and two Poke Balls popped out of a little slot to the right of the screen. He caught them, quite dexterous for his age. He clicked the two capsule release buttons, and the room was engulfed in the red light.

As the light started to condense down, two Pokemon formed on the ground.

As the Pokemon stretched from the long time he had spent in his Poke Ball, a slow groan leaves it's mouth. It opens it's eyes and peers around the room before hopping up to the ceiling and sticking there for a few minutes. While he was suspended upside down by his hands, he inspected the trainer from head to toe, taking in all notable characteristics. He seemed to like the new trainer, and started crawling closer to the trainer's position, and unlatched itself from the ceiling and landed on the top of the trainer. It simply gave a wink and a nod.

The grass serpent slowly unraveled itself from it's sleep in it's Poke Ball, and quickly was wide awake and alert. It saw the Treecko inspecting the Trainer and quickly hopped up and hobbled over to the Trainer's leg to give it a nice hug. A grin quickly spread across her face as she silently started to crawl up the trainer's leg. She crawled up as quickly as possible to try and take the Treecko's place on the right shoulder. Unsuccessfully so, she went to the left shoulder and nuzzled her cheek against the trainers. It was so soft and squishy..

As the events unraveled before the Professor's eyes, a rivalry between those two Pokemon was very imminent. This could be a problem if he had to split them up..
<"So, which one tickles your fancy?"> he asked, winking at the trainer.

Nicholas watched silently as the professor took his time, knowing that he figure that something was going to be done that would probably be better off without him talking. He figured that it would be better to just wait and see, knowing that whatever choices he was going to get would be something that would be better off knowing by show then asking. It was nothing that didn't bother him, seeing that it was just one of those things that seemed like it would be of better use for the waiting. Nicholas didn't mind that, seeing it was just part of what was needed.

When the choices came, there were only two that he would be choosing from. The first that came out was a Treecko, a pokemon that seemed to be from the Hoenn Region. The little Grass Gecko did seem to be happy to be out of the capsule, and did seem quite interested in him. It was something that seemed to make Nicholas happy, knowing that it would be quite interesting to have the pokemon along. Even when the pokemon landed on his shoulder, it was neat at how the pokemon winked at him. Lifting his had, Nicholas figured he'd pet the little pokemon, giving him the little bit of attention.

The next one was a Snivy, and did seem to be quite alert after being let out of the confines of the Pokeball. She seemed to be alert with what was going on around her, especially with what the Treecko was doing, on his head. It was something that seemed to make him feel happy about his choices, even if some of the time it didn't seem to make sense to others. The Snivy sure was a happy one, hugging him before climbing his clothes. It was a neat little aspect about the pokemon, and Nicholas could help but think that the Snivy was just as wonderful as the Treecko.

Both choices seemed great, but he wasn't sure if he could just pick one. Both Grass-Types were good, and would become quite strong once they got to their final stages. It would be hard to fully decide, seeing that it would be great to have both. Nicholas was having a hard time deciding, seeing that both the choices were cool and would be good to have either.

"I like both of them, to be honest. I can't fully decide on which to go for. Is it possible to take both?"

He was kind of glad that the guy asked to take both, because he was sure it would have been devastating to see the two leave each other's presence. They would bond shortly enough..
<"Sure, you can take both of them! Just don't tell anyone.."> he said, a grin controlling his face.
<"Here you go! Here are the Poke Balls!"> he said, handing the Poke Balls to Nicholas.
<"You'll also need this."> he continued, handing him a starter pack with some money, basic necessities and such, <"It's a starter pack.">

As the new trainer took in all the new things that he received, he just had one thing left to say. <"Have a great journey! Report back sometime!">
