Character Name:Cedric Greystone Nickname(s):N/A Age19 Gender:Male Field:Trainer Kind:Human
Appearance:Cedric has messy brown hair in an afro-like style and a faint mustache. His attire consists of a grey shirt with a stitch pattern running down the middle of the shirt ending at the halfway point of the shirt. He wears this under a red long-sleeve jacket. He wears brown/black shorts and japanese Geta (wooden sandals) on his feet. He has two blue ring tatoos, two on each wrist and two just above the ankles.
His eyes are a brown color just like his hair. Cedric is fairly tall, standing at five feet and eleven inches. His body is well poporationed and his body is toned from years of martial arts and the like. Although he still retains a slender apperance, he's stronger than he looks. And he is tan.
Personality:The one lasting impression of Cedric is a puffed-up sense of superiority. In his mind, there is nobody better than him, and he would be hard-pressed to find a flaw with himself if somebody asked. He's managed to develop a very distinct ego, and easily thinks of himself as some kind of role model for others to look up to and seek to emulate with all of their little hearts. His obvious high opinion of himself is apparent in the way that he converses with others, definitely. With his poised voice, he somehow manages to both give the impression of genuine interest in another person, and convey a deprecating attitude, as well.
He's got a tendency to throw out remarks and comments that, whilst droll and twisted witty. There's a certain predatory bent to his personality, and it's easy to think of him as being sinister and foreboding. He likes to maintain control and fear in his discussions with others, and manipulate emotions through his "innocent" body language shifts and changes in vocal inflection. His voice itself is so generally pleasant, its simple for him to casually twist would-be promises or distract those desiring to get the best of him to change the subject, or shift to a different point of interest.
He can play a person as deftly a crooked poker player. He gets no greater joy than from tweaking people's heartstrings and their minds, and working them into malleable puppets for his own cause and purpose, making it his particular pleasure in life is to control the lives of others. He'll personally test the ripples of a drop of water, push the envelope as much as he can, and if he happens to stumble across somebody's breaking point along the way, well then that just makes the experience that much more enjoyable. With an eager willingness to plainly stroll so callously over the tops of others (equipped with the knowledge of their insecurities and imperfections) just makes him all the more ruthless. More often than not, he'll face someone with a smile on his face and an avaricious gleam in his eye, but behind that thin veneer is a shrewd, impossibly calculating mind.
One of these "sinister" aspects that Cedric possesses is his foreboding jealousy. He doesn't like it when other people stake a claim to things that he believes are his - this includes others who he has taken a deliberate interest in, Pokemon. The problem is that instead of treating these creatures as his equals, he acts as if they owe him some great favor for simply being in their world. Speaking of being God's Gift to pokemon, he thinks himself rather highly when it comes to the ladies - and how he believes they should act and look around him. He simply adores women, though only attractive ones, obviously. He tends to like the more clever and feisty ones, as they are more of a challenge in obtaining, or also the more provocative ones. But despite his urges to possess some of them, they are objects to him, and selecting fine women is like selecting and being knowledgeable of fine wine.
To say that Cedric is suspicious would be an understatement. He's all about keeping his schemes, plots and feelings (what little he experiences) bottled up and played close to his chest. If there's one thing that living amongst the madness of both worlds, it's that creatures are treacherous, always looking for a chance to second guess or double-cross others, and if he wants to avoid being the one with a knife poking out of his back, he tries to be the first and only one to do the stabbing. Still, it's not as though he's particularly...honest when it comes to his motives or his goals. Because of his outward image and growing reputation, its quite clear he tries his hardest to keep his agenda hidden at all costs, especially from public eyes, from those few who just might actually have the power to prod him from his metaphorical throne.
Even with the most keenest of care, sometimes others (grudgingly) end up getting the best of him. Unfortunately for them, Cedric never takes a challenge face down. He will not rest until what he perceives to be that glaring injustice is resolved, often in the most brutal way conceivable. He can't stand the idea of humiliation or being beaten, and if it happens, so help him, he will do anything to eradicate the offending adversary.
While being a great leader Cedric is also the ideal minion. Playing with others draws his specialty of "playing pretend" as well-for a price. And due to his suave charm can't help but do a bit of sucking up when it feels appropriate. Even if it means some lies come out of his mouth. It's not degrading, it's being smart and pushing further to get what he wants, as well as keep whoever he's working for happy and he might get something special out of it. It's all worth the gain. And after the use is drained out of something (especially someone) Cedric has no problem with dumping the being like a discarded can of soda. After all, who would want to follow a person who hasn't a single idea how to be menacing and not learn from the experience? LIKES ~Having power/authority. And having it recognized ~Respect being paid where respect is due. Particularly if it’s due to him. ~His sense of humor, even if no one else seems to retreat from his astounding wit. It’s there, you know. Subtle death threats are an acceptable form of humor. ~Coming off as a perfectly charming gentleman, or really, playing the part ~Having his ego stroked ~The sound of his own voice DISLIKES ~ Failure ~ When people have their priorities all out of order ~ When things do not go according to plan ~ Others not listening to him. ~ Being talked over. Whatever he has to say is more important than their useless prattle. ~ Being outdone, humiliated, or undermined in any way, shape, or form.
History:He grew up on the orange islands to two parents. His mother Jane was a photographer sponsored by a big shot company that traveled a lot and his father, Drew was a computer programer responsible for making computer chips. Due to their busy schedule, Cedric was a single child, most likely because his parents feared that they wouldn't have enough time for more than one child. Still, growing up, he couldn't be called the most outspoken child. He had friends, but his friends were cold and unloving, stuffed animals and computer sims that his dad made for him to keep him company on his long business trips. He was mostly raised by his mom in his young years, and even young Jane knew that there was something lacking in her son that was so painfully apparent in other children: he didn't socialize well at all with others.
It started after an accident at kindergarten, which he had to be removed from another child, blood on his hand. After months of family consoling and doctor visits, Cedric was given light medication to deal with his social awkwardness. He was home schooled in his younger years, and then sent back to public school for 5th through 8th grade. Surprisingly, though, Cedric was a model student; he got straight A's and excelled in his classes – the only problem was that he still couldn't make connections with his peers without having to go to extreme lengths. And extreme lengths usually always ended up with threats or promises of protection, lunch, or money, which he always had plenty of. He enjoyed manipulating his peers in this manner, but the other children were wise to stay clear of him, even though the teachers were absolutely smitten with his good manners and classroom smarts. This continued onto high school.
As soon as high shool was out he decided to start his own Pokemon Journey. He'd never had much contact with Pokemon. His father worked with a few, as did his mother but he never had put much thought into the world of Pokemon and being in it. But as soon as school was over, he decided to devote his studies to Pokemon, he gained knowledge of pokemon very quickly and was able to put it to use when he went to take the test to become a trainer. 100% to be exact. Cedric is very versed in pokemon but not enought to be a nerd.
