Character Name: Harper Grant Nickname(s): None thus far Age 19 Gender: Female Field: Harper isn’t ready to declare a field. However, growing up she always romanticized adventuring, and cherishes the few experiences she had with capturing and befriending Pokémon. Kind: Human
Appearance: Harper’s skin is darkened from years spent in the sun, running through the streets and lurking in nearby forests. She’s most proud of her legs, strengthened from years of athletic activity that mainly consisted of running. Least noticeable of her attributes, in her opinion, are deep set hazel eyes that usually display a soft brown color (though occasionally a green will net from the outside border of the iris). Her hair is long, naturally wavy, and a deep brown in color, usually kept out of the way in a ponytail that it often attempts to defy. Her bangs are too short for the ponytail, but too long to keep out of her face all of the time. Rather than “framing her face” they often get in the way of her eyes. Harper frequently considers getting a haircut, yet she never gets around to it. The young woman dresses for comfort as opposed to style or any other purpose. This means she can be seen in anything from T-shirts of varying fit to shorts, capris, or anything that wouldn’t get in the way of her activity. The items of clothing that are closest to being considered trademarks are her worn running shoes and hiking boots.
Personality: Harper could be considered easily excitable at times, at times appearing to love the “big” and the “small” good things almost just as much. While having a psychologist as a parent has affected her thought process, she works hard to get along with those around her. However, this is a struggle, and though she strives towards the “ideal” of being kind and brave, the young woman often feels she has failed by the end of the day. This is more likely to be due to “cultural factors” rather than because she doesn’t want to have the aforementioned traits. It should be noted that the girl has a slight fear of interaction with people, something she has faced every day though it hasn’t grown much smaller. It should be known that Harper was brought up to be a trusting individual, and as such has little if any street smarts. Pokémon have always amazed and intrigued her, both from afar and up close, in more than one way. The size, shape, form or typing rarely mattered to little miss Grant. Pokémon were always more amazing, more intriguing, and more worthy of trust than actual human beings.
History: It was always hard for Harper to tell what little bit of her past people thought would be important. It’s unlikely that this will change. Still, it should be known that her parents, a psychologist and a writer, divorced when she was young, but she was always confused by how people react to this piece of information. Harper was brought up being told that her parents were simply happier as friends, and it came to be that the child simply figured that there was no harm in having two houses. She was always an adventurous kid, with a broken bone or two in her medical history to prove it. This caused her parents to worry, so when she as just a child told her parents she wanted to go on an adventure, they made her a deal; if she could pass with flying colors in a boarding school of their choice, she could go on her adventure for as long as she liked. And so, the girl worked long and hard, though there’s nothing too notable. She was not a stand out student, not ranking among the elite even though she did get mostly A’s, partially in thanks to her slight fear of interaction. Something that might be noted is, however, is that the girl was known for catching the Pokémon at the school, only to be consistently disappointed with the idea of having to return the rented creatures, what with them belonging to someone else to begin with. Now, however, she has met the requirements her parents set, and has been able to pick her starting point. For whatever reason, a stranger recommended this place as a starting point for a diverse selection of wild Pokémon.
