It was fair to say that Leanne Corner was very much unprepared to start her journey. She'd packed everything she'd needed two days previous, bought anything she hadn't already owned the day before, and today here she was, approaching Hajime Lab. It wasn't as if she didn't know how to look after a Pokémon or anything; she'd helped her mother out in her job at a Pokémon Gym a good deal, so was used to being around Pokémon. It wasn't as if she hadn't wanted to be a trainer; she'd been saying for years that some day soon, she would become a trainer. The thing was that she had about a week ago decided that she'd spent too long say 'I'll go later' without actually leaving, so she might as well just pick a region at random, saying her goodbyes and just go. Right there, right then. And that was just what had happened.
Leanne had realised that it was best to live life for the present. Who knew what would happen? There was no point in saying she would do something when she was thirty, when she had more money, had a proper job, or whatever; who knew what her life would be like then? If she wanted to do something, she might as well do it now. That was the reasoning behind starting this Pokémon journey, and so far she wasn't regretting it whatsoever. Just travelling to the region had been a great deal of fun, if a little tedious after a long time on the boat, but she enjoyed walking and spending time with Pokémon, so she was certain this could work for her. There were doubts, true, but if it turned out she wasn't so keen on training, she could easily just give up and find something else to do.
The only problem with the sudden decision to leave home to do what she wanted to do in life was that she hadn't had the time to think too hard about what Pokémon she wanted. She'd looked at the options, and had just thought that Snivy, Treecko, Totodile and Murkrow were all right, but she just assumed she'd pick based on personality. She might as well do that, but she was worried she'd pick a poor starter Pokémon, although she was aware that they wouldn't really offer a Pokémon that would be difficult for new trainers to handle.
So here she was, facing the door to Hajime Lab. It wasn't that difficult to take the next step; she reached out and knocked on the door, then waited for someone to answer. [/blockquote]

[classy=split] [/classy] [classy=roundbox] The Professor had just been tinkering around on the computer when a knock at the door awoke him to the real world. He got up out of his comfortable chair; yawned, stretched, and walked over to the door. He opened the door slowly, revealing a girl in front of him. A smile creeped up on his wrinkly face. <"Hi there! My name is Professor Kinkaze! I would assume you're here for a starter Pokemon?"> he introduced himself, asking the same old question he would ask to any other trainer. <"If you are here for a Pokemon, which I'm sure is the reason why you're here, there's a list in here that you can look at."> he invited the girl in to show her the laminated piece of paper on the wall with images of Pokemon that could be picked up from the lab. Leanne smiled at Professor Kinkaze, nodding as she took the laminated paper. He seemed pretty friendly, which was good. Nothing worse than having your first experience of Pokémon being recieving a starter from a reluctant and grumpy Professor. This seemed like a good start. Now, all she had to do was decide on a Pokémon. She'd had a few ideas about what she wanted, and of course if she saw any of her favourites on the list, she'd jump at the oppertunity to take one.
Looking down, she could see a few Pokémon she knew fairly well from her mother's work. She knew a bit about Grass types, but they weren't actually her favourite type of Pokémon; she didn't really have a favourite type. This was possibly a reason why it was so difficult for her to find one Pokémon on the list which she preferred over all the others. There were, of course, plenty she liked a lot, but not a clear winner. Snivy, Murkrow, Treecko, Totodile and Squirtle. She had no idea how to narrow it down from there, no matter how she approached the problem.
Looking up from the list at Professor Kinkaze, she gave a slightly awkward smile. "Um, would it be possible for me to see a Snivy, Murkrow, Totodile and Squirtle? I can't decide..." she trailed off, unsure of whether this would be allowed or not.
