One Foot in front of Another

[Summer]

Roxie walked slowly hearing the noises of the route come alive. Of course she hung around talk grass, but always stayed out of the grass making sure nothing jumped out at her. Of course before she had left the town Roxanne struggled with whether or not to have any pokemon out or just one, maybe both. She saw the need that maybe one should be out and he seemed to be enjoying the ride in her arms. Roxanne hunched over, concern was shown in her eyes as she slightly squeezed the Charmander in her arms. Happy thoughts she repeated to herself. Of course the only thing that came into mind for her would be when she gave her two precious pokemon their new names.

Her dark eyes stared down at Larvitar and Charmander as both looked up at her nervously. Roxie then went down on both of her knees and patted both of their heads. "I should give you guys names. I know it's very over due for you Larvitar." Larvitar nodded slowly at her response. They would need powerful names since they would hopefully evolve into very powerful evolution. Roxanne humed to herself deep in thoughts.

"Ok. I've got it!" Both pokemon jumped, possibly from their personality types, but she jumped as well in surprise. A nervous chuckle left her lips. "Larvitar, I shall name you Skyler which means providing shelter." Once more the Larvitar nodded his eyes sparkled just like his unique skin. "As for you Charmander, you shall be Keegan which means Descendant of the Fiery One." The Charmander looked down in embarrassment.

A soft sigh escaped from her as Keegan looked up at her. He enjoyed being in her arms much more than his past trainer, Keegan could tell that this would be a different adventure for him with a more passive trainer. He then looked away from her to see why his trainer stopped.

They were already in the grass but so fair by their luck, or not luck, no pokemon had jumped out yet. Roxanne wondered where they were at, her brow showed concerned. Should she be relieved or happy, yet how could she get a strong team to find her missing brother? Roxie opened her mouth to yell out but hesitated and clamped her mouth. what happens if something vicious came out and was stronger than her pokemon and they died and she died and her parents would never know! All Roxanne would be is another face in the newspapers saying how she died in this new region.

Her breathing increased Roxanne's heart started to race which in return seemed to make the Charmander in her arms slightly more nervous as well.

The bushes rattled as something was peeping it's eye out from inside the leafy enclosure. The thing rattling in their had started to move because of something else, a trainer to be exact. She was talking to her pokemon and doing all types of different things. The route had been quite, it must have been the hibernation of all the pokemon in Route 1. But it wasn't, the pokemon that had been hiding came out.

As it jumped off it's tail from the bushes it could now see alot clearer then before that the trainer had two completely different pokemon. The pokemon that had jumped out of the bushes was bouncing on it's tail up tall and was a brown color. It was a rodent type pokemon known as Sentret. But why had Sentret been observing the trainer and her pokemon from inside the bushes.

Sentret looked cocky and ready to battle, obviously it wouldn't be fair for the trainer to use two pokemon. Plus if she did she would break the trainer rules of the Erinuki region. But what pokemon would she pick to battle the brown colored squirrel like pokemon. Would she pick the fire lizard, or the odd green colored dinosaur. That was up to her to decide, but Sentret didn't look very patient as it was already getting ready to use it's first move.

A pokemon then jumped out out making Roxanne squeeze Keegan making him grunt in pain. Of course her Larvitar jumped slightly behind her. Her first battle was with a Sentret, which seemed ready for fight and would probably never let her escape. She fumbled for Skyler's pokeball to call him back so it would be a fair fight. "Keegan, this'll be your battle." She said quietly, letting the Charmander go who looked at the Sentret, going back slightly, seeming surprised at his energy.

"It's ok. I believe in you." Roxanne said, attempting to cheer Keegan on. He crawled forward, this would have to be for his new trainer. "Ok, use bite Keegan." Roxie threw a pointed finger out, after a few seconds she let her arm drop feeling foolish for doing that. Keegan nodded his head moving forward as quickly has he could opening his mouth wide for his attack.

The battle had only just begun from both sides. It was Roxie's first wild pokemon battle in Erinuki Region and one of Sentret's many battles. Sentret was confident it could win this battle easily against the new trainer, but that theory of it's was going to be put to the test.

Sentret started to run straight towards it's opposing Charmander as it stuck it's claws out and in a diagonal direction swiped them across Charmander's body. It was a good opening to the battle as Sentret cockily bounced on its tail with it's paws in a fighting pose to show it was tough.

Roxanne had commanded Keegan to use Bite, and he happily accepted it's orders. Keegan the Charmander ran quickly towards Sentret as it opened it's jaws up wide. It then crunched down on Sentret's tail as it inflicted a massive amount of pain on the wild pokemon. It seemed that Sentret being the cocky type may not be so helpful...

Roxie cringed as she saw that the Sentret do a direct attack to Keegan. But smiled when he too was successful. Seeing how this Sentret's personality was like, she would need someone with this kind of spunk to help along her other pokemon.

She dug around her new backpack trying to find a pokeball. The small ball in her hand she stared at it for a while before pressing the center, watching it grow to the size of her palm. "If you. Come with me, I'll make sure you become stronger." Even though Roxanne meant for those words to be strong, the pause in the middle made it seem less convincing, but she knew she should attempt to catch her first wild pokemon.

Roxanne brought her arm back and tossed the pokeball out. Seeing how it was weakened severely but her Charmander's bite attack this should be an easy snag for her or so Roxie thought to herself as she thought of the strong team she would have in the future.

Roxie had grabbed out a pokeball, it had only been one turn into the battle and she was ready to catch the Sentret. What an eager trainer. The ball was launched to Sentret, it then became encased inside as the ball dropped to the ground. It shook back and forth, once, twice and third time and then a reassuring ding sound came from it. This signified that Sentret had been captured.

The battle wasn't very lengthy, but Roxie had gained another pokemon and got her own Charmander some friendship and bonding with the bonus of levels. Now Roxie had her first battle, what was she going to do. Continue on or something else?

Charmander gained 3 Friendship. Charmander also grew to Level 6 (1/12)EXP
